Shishir Gairhe is a senior insurance and reinsurance professional with over two decades of experience across engineering, insurance operations, and strategic risk management, with extensive exposure to South Asian and regional markets. He holds academic qualifications in civil engineering, engineering management, and insurance, combining strong technical expertise with deep industry insight. His professional experience spans Nepal, India, Bangladesh, and Bhutan, with a particular focus on emerging markets.
His career includes leadership roles in engineering design and construction, insurance claims management, and the oversight of large-scale infrastructure and hydropower projects. This diverse background enables him to conduct engineering risk assessments, risk mapping, exposure analysis, and loss potential evaluations for complex and capital-intensive assets.
At Himalayan Reinsurance, Mr. Gairhe is responsible for the assessment and mapping of insured risks, supporting underwriting decisions through technical risk evaluation, exposure analysis, and risk modelling inputs. He also plays an active role in regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and public communication, contributing to the company’s positioning as a reliable regional reinsurer operating to international standards. In addition, he heads one of Himalayan Reinsurance’s fintech subsidiaries, supporting innovation and digital transformation initiatives within the group.
